This product is made cheaply. You can not really say if the cap is screwed or not. I had to unscrew the cap, then probably 3-4x. It feels like the CAP could be cons-thread, so I think they should be. When my dog drink any water from the pot would sometimes fill the bowl and, sometimes, the bowl was dry, but the tank was filled. I returned this item. Hasle is more than worth it.

This product works as indicated by the fact. It filters the water and saves him. The problem is (minus the giant size) is that my cat does not like. He prefers his water dish. To change the water once or twice a day and he likes much better than the stored water in this fountain.
I use a PUR water filter and enjoy the water I give him above the water filtered by this. The purchase of a PUR filter is more convenient in any way (because I do not drink water botteled for ethical reasons) and the cat likes it better. I do not need to waste money buying filters for something else.
